Jodie Armstrong
Owner/Teacher: Piano and Voice

 

Jodie started in the late 70’s competing in the national federation festivals and the national piano playing auditions in the junior division, district, state and national level. Soon voice, saxophone, bass, cello and acting became a passion for her future as well.

She attended Howard Payne University before leaving for a music career as a singer. Touring in many bands, ensembles, quartets and many hours as a studio musician. She has been able to share the stage with many great musicians in professional music such as BB King, Johnny Duncan, Bobby Blland, Bruce Channel, and Brownwood’s own legends, Sonny Throckmorton and Van Wilks. Jodie also had a passion for teaching that began in late 80's directing Children’s Choirs and stage plays for the children and youth. She was appointed Director of Programs for all Children’s Choirs and Drama  K-6th and also directed youth choirs. She has directed over 25 Choirs and Drama Programs, and has received a merit Award from the Texas Baptist Association of Music for Superior Achievements in Children’s Choir and Drama Programs.  She also received the Award of Merit for Musicianship in Instrumentation from the State Of Texas.  

In 1996 the family made a move back to her hometown and purchased Brownwood Music where she teaches voice and piano.  Jodie has promoted live music in Brown county and plans to continue till she retires.    Jodie was inducted as a Charter Member of the Singing Women of Texas in 1994 and received recognition in “Who’s Who” for American Businesswomen in Music. Recognized awards from the State and Senate of Texas as well as numerous awards from the local chamber of commerce including Women of the Year in 2014.

She has attended more than 3500 music and dance concerts either performing, managing, or judging.  She is now a member of the High Mesa Cowboy Church praise band as a singer and keyboard player, using her talents three services a week and many revivals and camps.
